Certified Hereford Beef® Sponsors American Royal Barbecue Kids-Que Contest

Seventy-five kids from across the United States, Canada and Japan, ranging from ages 6-16, quickly threw on their Certified Hereford Beef aprons and began their food prep for the 12th annual American Royal World Series of Barbecue® Kids-Que contest on Saturday, Sept. 15.

On the menu?

Certified Hereford Beef top sirloin steaks and burgers. The savory aroma of beef soon filled the cooking arena.

Certified Hereford Beef was the official protein sponsor of the 2018 American Royal World Series of Barbecue Kids-Que contest at the Kansas City Speedway.

The Kids-Que contest allows kids ages 6-15 the opportunity to showcase their barbecue and grilling abilities to a panel of judges in a fun and educational environment. Ages 6-10 competed in the hamburger contest, while ages 11-16 competed in the steak contest. Certified Hereford Beef donated the ground beef and top sirloin steaks to participants, as well as a Certified Hereford Beef swag bag filled with Hereford beef goodies.

A Taste of Hereford

While at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue®, Certified Hereford Beef also partnered with the Big Green Egg® and Ray Lampe, also known as “Dr. BBQ,” to provide a taste of Certified Hereford Beef to barbecue fanatics.

Certified Hereford Beef chili crusted tri-tip, strip steaks and herbed butter prime rib were smoked on the Big Green Eggs and serve to attendees looking for a unique eating experience only the Hereford breed can provide.

“The Big Green Egg and Certified Hereford Beef partnership while at the American Royal Barbecue provided great exposure for our brand,” says Kaylen Alexander, Certified Hereford Beef director of marketing and communications. “Those who sampled the product were very complimentary about the taste, tenderness and juiciness of the meat.”
